About Quality Roofing & Sheet Metal in Bozeman, MT
In 1962, Quality Roofing was started in Bozeman, MT by founder Pat Herring. Then in 1966, Ken A. Barnhardt began working for Mr. Herring, quickly becoming a lead foreman and leading roofing crews for the company. In 1973 Ken started to slowly purchase Quality Roofing from Mr. Herring and in 1974 completed the purchase. Today, Quality Roofing & Sheet Metal is a family-owned and operated business and is now a third generation company!
KC Barnhardt
President
KC Barnhardt worked under his father during summers in high school to eventually working full time on the roof by the age of 20. He went from nailing three-tab shingles to eventually running crews for commercial projects. Through the years KC has invested a lot of time in to the roofing industry. He was part of a group of roofing contractors throughout the state of Montana that came together to form the Montana Roofing Contractors Association in 1989 and was the president of that association in 1994. KC also spent over 20-years on the Western States Roofing Contractors Association. During the time he spent with the WSRCA he worked on numerous committees on issues ranging from shingle failures, the TPO weathering farm (one of the most complete studies of TPO membranes in the industry), was part of the committee that published the WSRCAS Below Grade Waterproofing Manual. In 2000 KC became President of the WSRCA and eventually being elected into the WSRCA Hall of Fame. In 2005 after Ken’s retirement KC became president Quality Roofing.
Karen Barnhardt
Secretary
Karen Barnhardt, KC’s wife has worked at Quality Roofing for over 30 years. Karen graduated from MSU with a BA in finance. She is the office manager and is also the secretary and vice president of Quality Roofing. She also serves as the secretary for the Montana Roofing Association. Karen enjoys working with her family, but more importantly loves being a Grandma to her five grandchildren.
Austin Barnhardt
Vice President
Austin Barnhardt, KC’s son and the 3rd generation of Quality Roofing started working in the metal shop in high school and helped KC with various repair jobs on weekends. Austin started roofing full time at the age of 19 and has spent many years working on the roof gaining valuable knowledge and in the sheet metal shop fabricating metal for various jobs. He now works in the office most of the time as an estimator and Project Manager, but still finds himself out on roofs helping get things done. As his father also does, Austin is proud to give back to this industry as shown in his involvement in industry associations. In 2015/16 he served as the president of the Montana Roofing Association and is an active member of the Western States Roofing Contractors Association.
